Futures industry veteran Joe Murphy has joined R.J. O’Brien & Associates (RJO) as Executive Vice President and President of the Americas, affective immediately.
I found that out quite by accident, running into Murphy in the lobby of our building—which is the same building that RJO is located.
It was nice to see Joe who has been one of the industry’s more affective spokesmen as Chairman of the Futures Industry Association and as a board member of the Clearing Corporation and National Futures Association. Murphy has also been one of the most accessible industry leaders up until the bankruptcy of Refco where he served as President of Refco Futures. Murphy was not charged with any wrongdoing in the Refco debacle but did settle an investor lawsuit.
Murphy will be in charge of marketing and expanding the firm’s business through all of its business lines, according to an RJO release.
